Mummy 3, which is also referred to as The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor is a sequel to the Mummy and The Mummy returns. This movie, whose plot is of a much lighter note was released on the first day of August 2008. It was co-written by Alfred Gough and Miles Millar, and directed by Rob Cohen. Stephen Sommers, Bob Ducsay, Sean Daniel and James Jack were the movies’ producers.

The stars include Brendan Fraser as Rick O’Connell and Jet Li as Emperor Han, the first Chinese Emperor. Maria Bello acts as Rick’s wife, Evelyn while Luke Ford Acts as the couple’s son, Alex. Michelle Yeoh acts as the Chinese witch, Zi Yuan. Others are John Hanna who acts as Evelyn’s brother and Anthony Wong Chau-Sang as Han’s supporter, General Yang.

The plot of the movie starts with Emperor Han’s conquests and his quest for power and immortality. He goes on to find the witch Zi Yuan who has the ability of giving him the power of immortality. He also desires the witch, so when she falls in love with the emperor’s General, he is infuriated and seeks revenge. He manages to get Zi Yuan to perform the immortality spell on him, but it turns out that the witch actually cast a spell on the emperor to turn him and his entire army into a terracotta army. The movie flash forwards to 1946, when Alex manages to find the emperor’s tomb. What follows is a battle to exterminate the emperor forever.

The movie was a big commercial success, having had gross revenue of $401,128,639 with a $145 million budget. The 111 minute movie was shot on location in Montreal and Shanghai, China. The DVD version of the movie was later released in December 2008 and sold over 2,500,000 copies.
